What Makes a Good Bad Guy?
For as long as I can remember being a reader, I’ve had very strong opinions on many aspects of storytelling. One of my strongest opinions...
Ever since his grandparents bought him his first copy of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe on vacation in Maine when he was a boy, Craig has been an avid reader. In high school random short blurbs were replaced with short stories written in worlds he shared with his closest friends, culminating in his first novel, By Virtue of the Blood, finished while he was supposed to be writing his Master’s Thesis in grad school.
Over the last ten years Craig has managed to parlay that pastime into an amazing reality. First writing short articles and stories for Spartan Games across their various game settings and then moving on to write for Fantasy Flight Games in the Warhammer 40,000 and Star Wars settings and finally laying the groundwork for their own world of Terrinoth for the game Rune Wars. Ultimately, Craig’s writing for game companies led him to Outlaw Publishing, where he wrote the establishment narrative for Wild West Exodus through articles, short stories, comic books, and ultimately, his first five professional novels.
Through the help of the publishing team at Zmok Books, Craig crafts stories in worlds of his own creation. His science fiction novel Legacy of Shadow has been referred to as a buddy space opera, while his fantasy novel, Crimson Sand, Crimson Snow, explores a gritty world of fallen kingdoms, clashing cultures, and a looming, unseen danger that threatens to destroy it all. Craig’s novel, Rise of the Alchemist, is the first in a shared magical-steampunk universe of alternate history, in a world where the America we know never came to be, replaced with the brutal, militaristic realm of Albion, founded by the arch-traitor Benedict Arnold, hell- bent on the total destruction of England and all her works.
2023 sees two of Craig's recent novels finally see the light of day. Team Zed: Shell Game is his first story set in the Infinity Game universe, following a fledgling, ragtag mercenary team as it struggles to establish itself amidst harrowing galactic challenges. For Jamaica, in conjunction with the fantastic pirate game Blood and Plunder from Firelock Games, follows the exploits of the pirate brigantine Bonnie Kate as it steers a course through the bloody waters of Caribbean, fighting the rising presence of the Great Powers and established pirate bands both.
